Interviewee Guide

Audience: Busy professionals (mainly O&G industry) looking to use real estate to smooth out the volatility of the O&G industry.

Goal of the podcast: To encourage O&G professionals to stop living from boom to bust and start building wealth that isn’t based on oil prices or the stock market.

Outcome for the interview: For you to explain your real estate experience and how it has helped you overcome volatility or provided stability in your life, career, or investments. Provide advice to those just getting started based on your experience and expertise.

If it fits with your experience, place a special emphasis on:

  • Cash-flowing real estate vs other routes

  • Benefits of multifamily over single family investing

  • Benefits of investing passively for busy professionals

  • Why real estate is a better investment than the stock market

Interview flow: When you signed up for the interview, you should have been sent a Zoom link. Simply click that link and you will be in the interview.

  • I will introduce you using the short, 3 sentence bio you provided when signing up for the interview.

  • I will ask you to share your background, how/why you got started in real estate, and what your experience has been so far.

  • We will spend most of our time talking about your experience and how real estate has helped you along the way.

Here are a few typical questions I might ask during this period:

  • What spurred you into investing in real estate?

  • What is your “why”?

  • What was the most difficult thing you had to overcome when you first got started investing in real estate?

  • What is the number one thing that has contributed to your success?

  • What advice would you give to someone listening who may be sitting on the sidelines wondering if they should start investing in real estate or not?

  • What makes passive investing in multifamily apartments such a great opportunity?

  • How do you see real estate performing over the near term or long term?

  • How do you see the stock market performing over the near term or long term?

  • What makes real estate a better investment than stocks for busy professionals?

  • Tell us about your worst investment, what went wrong? How did it end up?

  • How do you give back?

  • What is your ultimate goal with real estate investing?

Some tips:

  • I will be recording audio AND video. Be ready with desired hair/wardrobe/background.

  • Be in a quiet setting during recording time. Silence your phone and turn computer notifications off.

  • Please use headphones during the interview.

  • Use a microphone other than your computer’s mic. (even the mic on your headphones is better than your computer)

  • When logging into Zoom, be sure to click “Use Computer Audio” right away.

  • TELL STORIES… People enjoy compelling stories, for example, when giving advice to listeners try to tell the story behind learning that particular lesson.

  • Please review the sample questions I will ask before the interview and be ready with answers.

  • I will not be recording as soon as we start the Zoom call, we’ll have a few minutes before I press record if you have any last minute questions for me.
